Thanks for checking my page out. My name is Afele, I’ll keep it simple. A bit about me, I am NZ born and raised, I have lived in South Auckland and despite its reputation, I love and embrace where I am from and how it has influenced who I am.
I am married and have four boys, they are my world, I love being a husband, father, sibling, son, cousin, Uncle - like many cultures, family and faith are the main focuses in my life. I enjoy cooking particularly BBQ, I love watching sport and have recently committed to coaching Basketball with my boys.
Professionally, I am finding that I bring all of me to my mahi and that has been an enlightening process being able to build a professional persona made up of technical and culturally informed morals and ethics, this has been where I have begun to thrive in a narrative that is needed.
For the non pacific & non Māori that want to engage with us(Pacific, Māori & Migrant) a mainstream approach to Safety and learning wont yield the comprehension and behavioural practice you want.
You need a person that has the Technical H&S Foundational skills and experience, balanced with an acute Cultural Intelligence in Pacific & Māori culture engagement and teaching style.
